What should be coordinated before inspection?
Ask the facility manager which production lines, utilities, ventilation, or loading routes operate beneath the roof section. Confirm who can approve an outage, roof entry, escort, lift, or test opening. Identify the shift contact and the escalation route if water or an unexpected condition is found. Do not assume that a shutdown window exists because one is shown on a general calendar.
Where an inspection can be scheduled before or after a shift, confirm the time with both production and maintenance. Identify the person who can stop work if a line, alarm, or utility condition changes. If the roof opening could affect a clean or controlled room, let the facility define the required barriers and release check. The contractor should not set those controls without the plant’s direction.
Provide a roof drawing and available repair records to the roofing team. A roof inspection should record the membrane or metal system, deck, insulation, seams, curbs, drains, and limits of access. When a production area needs interior protection, the site lead decides what is acceptable and who can release it after work.
